The Fall Fair Inspiration
Although I live in the city now, I grew up in a small town in the heart of Ontario farm country.
Every year at the end of September, the whole town buzzed with excitement. There wasn’t much to do for kids in our little town, so the annual fall agricultural fair was a big deal. Like, a really big deal.
Friends and cousins would come from out of town to watch the demolition derby and horse pulls. All summer leading up to the fair, we saved our money to play the midway games and buy ride tickets. It was the only time of year we got to have fudge!
Now that I have my own family, it’s a tradition I’d like to keep alive. We still try to make it to the fair every year. Sadly, this year our schedules didn’t allow for it – we couldn’t get out of the city.
Instead, we made a family trip to Riverdale Farm. Riverdale is an amazing little slice of rural life in the middle of downtown Toronto. We saw some horses, cows, goats and chickens, and tried a few treats at the concession counter. It’s a beautiful place for a picnic, and fun for the kids, but it certainly lacks the dusty rural charm of the agricultural fair.
Free Harvest Clipart
All the fair talk over the past week had me reminiscing about Autumn in farm country. The cool air, the coloured leaves and the critters getting ready for winter. And thinking of the handmade crafts and quilts the fair featured each year reminded me how much I love that folky, scrappy, country look.
Thought I’d kick off a folksy new art series with a free harvest clipart and paper set. I plan to add more seasonal and holiday sets to this series down the road. (Hopefully I’ll add Winter, Christmas, Spring and Summer as I have time.)
The free harvest clipart includes scarecrow, owl, birds, 2 trees, cornucopia, harvest basket, sunflower, pie, apples, pears, pumpkins, corn, fall wreath and lots more!
Vectors and PNG files are included. This Free Harvest Clipart & Patterns set is perfect for adding a touch of whimsy to fall and thanksgiving projects!
I hope you enjoy the art! Please don’t forget to send me any projects you’d like to share in my new Community Project Gallery.
